Why AYA?

Just like our colourful gemstones, the name AYA has a deeper meaning too.

Meaning “fern” in African Adinkra symbology, which are visual symbols that represents concepts or theories, this one speaks to endurance and resourcefulness. A fern can grow in unusual places, needs very little water and can withstand tough climates.

We believe that like an AYA fern, our gemstones show endurance and durability. Not only in the quality of the coloured stones, but in the one who wears it too.

AYA also means “I am not afraid of you”, which represents strength and independence. And with each piece hand-crafted, and every gemstone hand-selected, we hope the wearer feels their own sense of inner-strength and power.
