Our Story
Founded in 2016, Aya was born out of a love for one-of-a-kind gemstones. Initially dedicated to African gemstones in honour of Chelsy’s Zimbabwean heritage, Aya partnered with Gemfields to ensure the sustainable and ethical sourcing of natural stones in order to create unique jewellery inspired by the beauty of African life and landscape.
Through exquisite craftsmanship, Aya continued to grow and eventually expanded its offering to include heirloom-worthy bespoke commissions, working with clients and industry experts to source the very best gemstones from all over the world.
In 2024, a few years in the making and as a commitment to sustainability in an ever-evolving jewellery industry, Aya entered a new era with the launch of its first lab-grown stone range - The Chloe Collection. The brand has since launched a number of innovative designs which use lab-grown diamonds, rubies and emeralds - ethically produced and identical in composition to their natural counterparts. The brand continues to pay homage to its African roots through its bespoke work and the continuation of its founding collections as it looks ahead to a future defined by beauty and integrity.
FOUNDER
Aya was founded by Chelsy Davy, a lawyer turned gemologist with a love for jewellery and a fascination for gemstones. Chelsy studied gemology, gaining a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America, the world's foremost authority on diamonds and coloured gemstones. Now a mother of two, Chelsy took some time to focus on her family and for the first time in three years, Aya has released a new collection, the Chloe Collection.
