PHILANTHROPY

With the philosophy that the only way a nation can progress is through education, AYA is dedicated to building and growing schools in the local communities surrounding the gemstone mines in Africa.

The Kapila Community School
In Zambia, in the Kafubu Emerald area, you’ll find the Kapila Community School. Started in 2002, the school has 400 pupils between the ages of 6 and 16, with 4 teachers. Currently a community school with no governmental funding, it has to meet a number of requirements to receive the grant it truly needs.
One of these requirements is an additional block of three classrooms, which AYA has built. And with Gemfields building a strongroom to keep examination papers, the Kapila Community School is far closer to getting their funding.

With a big dream of helping to provide education to those who don’t have access to it, AYA is proud to support the Kapila Community School, and is intent on helping many more in time to come.

AYA is committed to the communities and environments in which it operates. AYA Africa Travel and AYA Jewellery have collaborated on a selection of carefully chosen initiatives, which are closely aligned with their shared values of sustainability, community and conservation.
